Air Compressor Service & Repairs

J Ll Leach has been maintaining compressed air systems for businesses across the Midlands since James Leach founded the company in 1936. We work from our three depots in Stoke-on-Trent, Birmingham and Shrewsbury.

Regular maintenance prevents costly breakdowns

Compressed air systems work hard in most industrial settings. Without proper care, they use more electricity, break down unexpectedly and often don’t last as long as they should.

We see this regularly when called to emergency breakdowns – systems that haven’t been properly maintained cost businesses in both repair bills and lost production time.

Regular servicing helps:

  • Keep energy costs under control
  • Reduce the risk of unexpected stoppages
  • Maintain consistent air quality and pressure
  • Extend equipment life

Maintenance for all air compressor makes

As an Atlas Copco Premier Distributor, we stock genuine parts and have fully trained engineers for these systems. We also service and repair all other makes of compressors.

Why customers choose us

Local knowledge

Our engineers know the local industries they serve. A technician visiting a pottery manufacturer in Stoke understands the specific air quality needs just as well as they understand the requirements of food processing plants in Telford or manufacturing operations in Birmingham.

Practical approach

We focus on keeping your equipment running reliably without unnecessary work. Our approach includes:

  • Fixing immediate problems
  • Replacing worn parts before they fail
  • Noting potential future issues
  • Providing clear documentation of all work done

Long-term reliability

Many of our current customers have worked with us for over 20 years. We maintain their equipment through regular servicing, advise on system improvements when needed, and provide quick support when unexpected issues occur.

FAQs

How often should air compressors be serviced?

Most industrial compressors need servicing every 2,000-4,000 running hours. For a typical single-shift operation, this works out to about every six months. Systems running multiple shifts often need quarterly checks. Smaller workshop compressors used intermittently might only need annual servicing.

What’s checked during a service?

Our standard service includes checking and changing oil and filters, inspecting cooling systems, testing pressure relief valves, examining belt tension and alignment, checking motor bearings, testing control systems and looking for air leaks in the immediate system.

Can you service compressors on weekends?

Yes. We understand many manufacturing operations can’t stop during weekdays. We regularly schedule preventative maintenance visits for evenings and weekends across the Midlands to minimise disruption to production.
